My Story

Trials of Steele Cover

I started writing in May 2022. I had an idea for Trials of Steele I just couldn’t get out of my head.

When I sat down to start plotting I had no idea what I was doing. What I did have was the 2010 version of Scrivener on my computer. I didn’t realize it at the time but I’d been wanting to write for a very long time. I wrote a couple of chapters and realized I needed to see what other people thought.

Everyone I showed my chapters too, HATED them.

I took their thoughts about my main character and my plot and I came up with round two.

Showed it to a new group of readers and they HATED it too.

But this time it was just the main character they couldn’t stand. I tried everything I could think of to fix it. I added another POV character, changed the plot some more, tried to flesh out the main character.

Nope.

There was nothing I could do to make my main character likable. So I did the thing every writer dreads, I threw out all my words and the concept and started fresh. It hurt but what I came out with on the other side was awesome.

I love the story and the characters and more importantly, so do the readers I’ve shown it too. I’ve learned a lot over the last eleven months, but the most important thing is to never give up.

I would love to hear what you think of my stories!
